The Motherkind Café

The Motherkind Café

Overview

The Motherkind Café is a volunteer-run, community postnatal support group for mums who are struggling with their mental health or finding it tough for any reason. It is free to attend. They provide a safe, welcoming space for women to talk honestly and openly about their experience of motherhood both with other mums, and to their trained peer-supporters, many of whom have their own lived experience of a postnatal mental health condition.

When/Where?

Two of the group’s founders, Emily Malden and Dr Becca Knowles-Bevis will be there along with their brilliant peer-supporter volunteers and hopefully some of the women who have come along to the group. Many of you have been fantastically supportive of this initiative, sharing your ideas and advice with them and promoting them on social media and beyond and they would love a chance to say thank you, and show you what they have been doing and for you to help them reach more women who may benefit from coming to the group. Goes without saying that motherhood is fuelled by tea, coffee and cake so there will be plenty of that, and there is also a fabulous café next door in Flo’s. You would be very welcome to bring along any little people who you may have in tow if you need to.
